VR is an amazing addition to the game, but the lack of updates have made it impossible for it to play. HTML buttons can’t be used correctly, default controls are poor, and the game feels off within it. All of these features need a overhaul and released as a new update, which could make VR viable for Tabletop Simulator.

If VR on TTS were useable other than great looking, I’d get a set in a sudden.
VR in this game seriously needs remaster/reworked controls. This game is perfect for VR but the controls are just so bad, would love if they made it possible to do everything that you can do in normal Tabletop just as easy in VR, especially for the Quest 2 that is gaining marketshare.

Agree with the “needs some lovin’…” statements. VR is nice for a lot of stuff in TTS…but when running/playing a game like an RPG system, where you need to ‘type info into sheets/notes/pages’ it’s…annoying. You have to “peek out” of your VR headset to position your fingers on the keyboard to type (I can imagin it’s worse for those who can’t type properly…re: the ‘hunt and peck’ typers).
Perhaps allow a “virutal Head Locator” where someone could be in VR, then plant a “VRHead” locator at a specific location in TTS. Then a person using VR could position their actual head location to reflect the ‘head location’ in TTS; the view in VR of the TTS table would then line up perfectly. So any table would be right at ‘table level’, and a 3D object of a keyboard could be placed in the same location as the physical keyboard. This owuld make it MUCH easier to get your ‘hands/fingers’ into position between VR/Real Life.
Hope that makes sense. Bottom line: Allow a “Camera Location” to be set in TTS, then ‘snap VR view’ to that TTS Camera Location, like a saved Camera position (Ctrl+#).
Additionally, using actual VR “hand manipulations” over button pushing, just like in most current VR games/apps, you can ‘point a finger’, ‘make a fist’, ‘grab something’, ‘give a thumbs up’, etc. by position of your actual fingers around the controller.
I think trying to make it ultra realistic with real world positioning is a bad idea. VR allows you to move past physics and past restrictions. You can play lying on your back, upside down in game, whatever. It’s a dead end to line it up with a real table/desk too in my view. The world grab locomotion system they added is perfect.
For RPGs, something like what you’re describing may be useful but unless it’s a really hard fork and doesn’t hold back board gaming, I think they should just leave RPGs to to the dozen VR TTRPG apps. I reccomend you download Desktop+ to make interacting with the desktop easy in VR and add a keyboard.
I hope they let people play test, I have hundreds of hours in TTS just in VR and a ton of feedback on bugs and and suggestions for what TTT’s strengths are in VR. I posted a lot of them but some are harder to describe without seeing what they’re looking for in terms of feedbacks.
Aside from adding modern standard VR movement (direct movement) to the controls, I think the devs should hop into VR and play popular games for several hours to see what VR for boardgames actually needs.

Please update VR mode!
